Preamble and Objectives of Women Cell
The Women's Cell at G. S. College of Commerce, Wardha, plays a crucial role in addressing issues related to girls and promoting gender awareness. As per the requirements of the "University Grants Commission (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015", the college has constituted a “Sexual Harassment & Gender Sensitization Committee”.
The objectives of the Women's Cell include:
1. Addressing Sexual Harassment: The committee acts against any instance of sexual harassment reported by girls or lady staff members, following stipulated guidelines and procedi ures.
2. Creating Awareness: It aims to create awareness among students about the problems faced by women due to gender issues.
3. Gender Justice: The Women's Cell strives to create an environment of gender justice where men and women are treated equally, with a sense of personal security and dignity.
4. Youth Issues: It educates students about issues related to youth, with a special focus on girls.
5. Disseminating Knowledge: The cell provides information about rights and laws related to women.
6. Empowering Students: It enhances the self-esteem, self-confidence, and decision-making ability of girl students.
7. Critical Thinking: The Women's Cell fosters critical thinking and team spirit among students.
Throughout the year, the Women's Cell conducts various activities to promote awareness and educate girl students on gender-specific issues. Some of the activities include essay competitions, skits, interactive sessions, self-defense training, and health-related awareness programs. The cell plays a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment for all students at G. S. College of Commerce, Wardha.
