NET & SET Exam Overview :

The UGC-NET (University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test) and the MH-SET (Maharashtra-State Eligibility Test) are significant qualifying exams for academic positions in India. The UGC NET is a national level test that evaluates candidates for eligibility for assistant professor or for junior research fellowships in Indian universities and colleges. Administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), it covers a wide range of subjects and is held twice a year.

The MH-SET, specific to Maharashtra and Goa, is conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University. It serves a similar purpose as the UGC NET but is limited to assessing eligibility for assistant professor positions in the colleges and universities of Maharashtra and Goa. Both exams test deep knowledge in specific subjects alongside teaching and research aptitude, catering primarily to postgraduates aiming to pursue a career in academia.
