Best Practice 1 - Certificate Programme in Banking Finance and Insurance (CPBFI)

Objectives:

  1. To make students ready for corporate roles by inculcating required skills among them.
  2. To equip students with right attitudes, skills and industry knowledge by going beyond critical skill development program.
  3. To prepare students for challenging customer facing roles in sales, service and operations which offers maximum career opportunities and excellent growth prospects.
  4. To use an experiential learning approach based on adult learning principles.
  5. To provide our students with a comprehensive training program in affordable fees which helps them to overcome hurdles in their career path & enable them to grab more and more career opportunities.

Context:

            CPBFI is a customized training programme which was started in G. S. College of Commerce, Wardha in collaboration with Bajaj Finserv Limited in year 2016. It aims to make graduates employable for banking, financial services and Insurance sector.CPBFI is 100 hours training program which is conducted by pool of trainers with extensive industry and training experience. As our institution is basically Commerce and Management Courses imparting institution this programme will be more useful and apt for the students of our college not only to impart basic and advanced skills in the arena of financial services but also to provide placement opportunity in the domain of Financial Markets.

The Practice:

            It is a Program which consists of various subjects that plays crucial role in providing domain knowledge as well as improving soft skills required to build career. It consists of following:

  1. Banking operations: It aims to provide knowledge of overview of banking & NBFC industry & details about banking products.
  2. Insurance Management:It provides overview of life & general insurance industry & details about various products available in insurance industry.
  3. Advance Business Communication:It is designed in order to develop soft skills among students. It consists of business communication skills including listening, speaking, reading& writing.

 

Course Duration: It is a 100 hour training programme which is covered in duration of 2 months.

Selection process adopted by College: Applications are invited from students who aspire to enroll for the course. Once the applications are received, the Pre- CPBFI interview is conducted to scrutinize the students.Those who clear Pre –CPBFI interviews get eligible to join this course.

Evaluation Criteria: On completion of course mock interviews are organised by corporate recruiters for students. On completion of this course Post CPBFI assessment is conducted to evaluate enhancement skills and knowledge of students after completion of course. Students who clear Post CPBFI Assessment & adhere to attendance criteria are provided certificate after completion of course which adds value to their CV.

Evidence of Success

In last five years we have successfully completed eight batches of CPBFI programme. There is significant improvement in placement of the CPBFI in reputed companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Bajaj Finance, HDB Financial Services, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, Muthoot Finance, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, Swatantra Micro Finance etc.

 

Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

The only problem encountered during the conduct of course during Academic Year 2020-21, due to Covid pandemic was that physical classes were not conducted. With respect to resources required, the college & Bajaj Finserv Ltd. make available all the necessary resources as and when required and as per the requirement of course curriculum.

Best Practice 2 - YouTube Usage for Academic Activities

During the Pandemic Time and even at present our institution is utilizing the YouTube as medium of communication and Transmission of the Teaching-Learning Activity. Apart from that all the online classes, events, programmes, Seminars/ Conferences/ Workshops have also been channelized through YouTube. This facility is not only for the stakeholders of the Institution but also open to all those who can get the knowledge and exposure of the subject contents streamed through the YouTube. Even the competitions have also been conducted online and were transmitted through the YouTube.

Objectives:

  1. To make the learners get facilitated to continuously adopt both online and repeated view of the activities for effective learning through offline also.
  2. To affiliate the learners for more acquaintance with online mode of Teaching-Leaning and Evaluation Process.
  3. To make the institution remain connected with the stakeholders continuously.

 

The Context:

            At present due to the pandemic scenario and also more inclination towards online mode of Teaching –Learning and Evaluation it is being an important chance to migrate gradually towards online while keeping the offline mode for specific occasions. In the wake of similar pandemic like situations in future also it acts as an added advantage to pursue the Teaching –Learning and Evaluation process without any hindrance.

  2. Online Conduction of Webinars, Seminars, Workshop, conference for teachers, students, professionals
  3. Online Competency building

 

Evidence of Success:

  1. Online lectures views through YouTube channel of courses during the Academic Year 2020-21 are 507.6K
  2. Total subscriber count 6.8K
  3. 3460 Video of Lectures and other activities are uploaded in YouTube Channel.
  4. More than 20 online activities of Webinars, Seminars, Workshop, and conference of different durations are conducted through YouTube Live.

 

Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

  1. Network issues during Online YouTube Live Sessions
  2. No direct interaction with students and participants except Chat box.
  3. Rural students particularly BPL students could not afford facilities of online teaching and learning to a major extent.
  4. Technology related issues like compatibility of mobile sets, Wi-Fi issues etc.
  5. Provision of IT and ICT related gadgets and network facility support for the EBC students expected from government to make them to stay connected to the learning process.
